I’ve been studying Spanish recently and I’ve noticed something that really bothers me. Correct me if I’m getting this wrong, but to the best of my understanding whenever you have a group of people, if even one of them is a guy then you refer to them as “ellos” rather than “ellas”. Just one guy turns the whole group male. It could be the million woman march but if there’s one man present then he takes precedence over all the women and changes the way you speak about the whole group.

I want to meet the guy who came up with that rule and punch him in his face.
